A wet blasting cabinet is a type of blasting equipment that uses a combination of water, compressed air, and abrasive media to clean or prepare surfaces. Wet blasting is a more gentle process compared to dry blasting, as the water and abrasive media mixture cushion the impact and prevent damage to the surface being blasted. The slurry of water and abrasive media is pumped from a reservoir tank into a Sand blasting nozzle, which mixes the slurry with compressed air and then sprays it onto the surface being cleaned or prepared.
Wet blasting cabinets are often used in applications where a smooth, satin finish is desired, such as cleaning delicate parts, preparing surfaces for painting or coatings, or removing coatings from surfaces without damaging the substrate. They can be used with a wide range of abrasive media, such as glass beads, aluminum oxide, and plastic media, and are available in various sizes and capacities to accommodate different production needs.
Wet blasting uses compressed air to propel a slurry onto a workpiece at high speeds. Typically, the slurry is made up of fine abrasive particles in chemically treated water. To prevent abrasive settling, the Wet blast cabinet is normally maintained and agitated continuously.
Similarly, with direct-pressure dry blast systems, compressed air is supplied at the same pressure as the sand blasting hose into the vessel housing the mixture. Pressure equalization allows the abrasive mixture to pass past the mixing valve and into the airline. A full-flow valve located between the hopper and the mixing chamber controls the abrasive flow.
The majority of wet blast equipment is cabinet-mounted, and it is frequently supplemented with auxiliary strippers, take-off conveyors, and wash-rinse dry stations. The vertical wheel, horizontal plane turntable, shuttle with rail or car extensions, chain or belt conveyors, self-contained turning mechanisms built for shafts and tubular sections, and combination tumbling-cabinet machines are the main concepts.
